Uploading Pictures

I’ve been looking at all of your blog sites–Wow! It’s amazing what can happen in just a week.

I’m seeing pictures in some blogs…can someone give me some pointers? I have digital photos on my computer and am hoping to upload some and add them to my posts.

Thanks for the help!

  1. Beth, I believe you must use an image hosting site first, such as http://www.photobucket.com, http://www.imageshack.com, etc. After uploading the pics from your computer to the site, you can then copy the image location and then paste it in the box that comes up when you click the little icon with the tree (I believe that is what it looks like on wordpress…).

The resulting code (if you are in code mode) will look similar to this:
img src= “address of image here” alt =”name of image” height =”X” width=”X” /

When you are in “image mode” when typing a post, the image will just come up. If you use photobucket like I do, you need to use the code “direct link.” Make sure when you upload pics onto an image hosting site, you upload them in the size you want (I recommend the website/email size since it it large enough to see detail but it loads fairly fast so it doesn’t lag anyone down). On photobucket, once you resize and image smaller, you cannot make it bigger, so make sure you have the right size if you make it smaller. Once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy to do.

    Good luck!

  2. When I upload pictures to WordPress, I first have to save them in Photobucket. It’s a free service and you can save many pictures there. Just go to Photobucket.com and open up an account. Then you can load your pictures from there.
    Good luck!

I’m glad you asked, Beth. I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to set up a flickr badge so I could display pictures on my blog, but it never worked.

  4. Beth –

You can upload images from your computer to your account. Go to the WordPress FAQ and look at the Images category.
